What do you do when you attacked by a bear? No problem – just grab a zucchini and fight back. This is what happened in Helena Montana when a woman successfully defended her home against a black bear who tried to get inside. Apparently they really do “grow them tough” in Montana, a state known for its cowboys and guns.

The attack happened just after midnight when the woman let her three dogs into the backyard for their nighttime ritual before she headed to bed, Missoula County Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Maricelli said. Authorities believe the black bear was just 25 yards away, eating apples from a tree.
After the dogs started barking, the bear came onto the back porch of her home and began to attack one of the dogs. The homeowner came out to see what was happening – surprise!
The bear then turned its full attention to the woman in the doorway. She retreated into the house and tried to close the door, but the bear stuck its head and part of a shoulder through the doorway.
The woman – who remains unnamed – held onto the door with her right hand. With her left, she reached behind and grabbed a 14-inch zucchini that she had picked from her garden earlier and was sitting on the kitchen counter. She threw it at the bear, conked him on the head – nice shot! – and he promptly ran away.
That’ll learn ya to mess with Montana!
holy crap – that woman is nuts. i cant believe that she won against a bear with a vegetable. Unreal – cool story.
