While the world focused its attention on the able bodied athletes of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, when the snow dust settled, another group of high performance athletes arrived to take their turn on the Olympic stage. These were the Special Olympics athletes, whose Quest For Gold involves the same levels of training, commitment and bravery as any other athlete in the world. But often gets less coverage and thus less exposure. This post brings some compelling pictures of the Special Olympics athletes from Vancouver 2010, and shows that they are every bit as exciting as their network-broadcast able bodied competitors.
