The Minister’s Tree House in Crossville, Tennessee is a bona fida tourist attraction and event setting (people go there to get married), and it is an architectural wonder. The structure is 97 feet tall, has 11 stories and roughly 8,000 square feet of space far bigger than most houses and family homes. Absolutely amazing didnt you want one of these when you were a kid? No doubt real estate values in this forest have gone up.
As he tells the story, in 1993, Minister Horace Burgess was praying when god told him If you build a tree house Ill see that you never run out of material. The minister set about building the largest tree house in the world, over 14 years and as legend has it spending only $12,000 and never running out of material.
The story as told by one visiting tourist (source): “The Ministers Tree House was simply amazing! The tree house was 2 hours out of our way but totally worth it! We drove up and there were several visitors and a makeshift parking lot. We had our 2 year old, 9 year old and 16 year old with us! They all loved it. We were truly in awe of this amazing site!”
