January 10 is No Pants Subway Ride Day. The movement started in New York in 2001 by a group called Improv Everywhere. Improv Everywhere is a group based in NYC that stages large-scale “Scenes”. Other cities dropping their pants include Boston, Washington DC, Portland OR, San Francisco, Chicago, Vancouver, Toronto, Adelaide Australia, Baltimore MD, and Salt Lake City. Participating commuters descended on their home city’s subway trains yesterday and proceeded to casually remove their pants and ride the train. The requirements for participation were simple:
- Willing to take pants off on subway
- Able to keep a straight face about it
