Can you guess what this Mona Lisa is made from? For those who have followed this blog, you may remember a posting of an artist who made portraits in this style of fooling the eye, or illusionary use of colour – this Mona Lisa is not crayon. Click into the post to see just what was used to create this montage that really does fool the eye as the colours blend to give us the image, rather than the parts that we see not individually but together as the whole. It is very cool.
This incredible 3D chalk art is drawn on the sidewalks of everyday streets in any city. In a beautifully crafted trompe l’oeil the art is carefully drawn at incredible angles so that when the viewer stands in front of it, the art looks like it jumps off the street completely in 3D. This size of the pieces of 3D chalk art is often drawn in long stretches of pavement, with many of the artists actually cordoning off sections of the sidewalk and gathering quite a crowd to watch the artist at work. The Name is the combination of the artist – Alexandro – and Andromeda, the well known galaxy, to signify the futuristic nature of this art. Not only does it make use of recycled/used parts from discarded electronics equipment, but it does so with the idea of looking to the future. The artist calls himself a modern archaeologist, who looks for the signs left by the energy of ancient and hyper civilizations in old computer and electronic equipment. January 10 is No Pants Subway Ride Day. The movement started in New York in 2001 by a group called Improv Everywhere. Improv Everywhere is a group based in NYC that stages large-scale “Scenes”. Other cities dropping their pants include Boston, Washington DC, Portland OR, San Francisco, Chicago, Vancouver, Toronto, Adelaide Australia, Baltimore MD, and Salt Lake City. Participating commuters descended on their home city’s subway trains yesterday and proceeded to casually remove their pants and ride the train. The requirements for participation were simple:
